Settlers + Nomads is a regularly updated online project collecting interviews, essays, events, image galleries and other material into a growing compendium of information about contemporary art connected to Southern Nevada. A collaborative work in progress, the website assembles a curated roster of artists living and working in Las Vegas and an ever-growing list of artists, writers and thinkers who have passed through and contributed to the presentation and discussion of art in Las Vegas. The site also highlights cultural destinations in Las Vegas, public art, earthworks and members’ projects, while the blog features writing by visual artist-contributors. Many of the “Settlers” and “Nomads” are regular contributors, reporting from locales such as Las Vegas, San Francisco, Houston, Baltimore, and Dowagiac, Michigan. Offline, Settlers + Nomads organizes public events such as performances, screenings and panel discussions with visiting artists, aspiring to stimulate connections and conversation and increase the agency and visibility of the Las Vegas art community.
