Mass for the Endangered post-production follow-up. Thank you!

To our wonderful community of supporters,

First, I will preface this letter by apologizing for the delay in turning it around. When not working on a production the staff at Shift is really just one person and the mass arrived at the same time as my appointment to the faculty at the Berklee College of Music and my first professional theatre contract. Upon reaching this professional milestone I decided it would finally be alright to heed the numerous voices advocating for me to take some time off. Several weeks later, my recuperation is in full swing, and I turn my attention back to the Shift mission. Here is our follow-up letter from the performance. I hope this letter expresses our gratitude and will help you see how your contributions led to our success on this event.

Over halfway! The Squishy Staircase incentive

(Video goes live at 4:30PM EST, July 28th)

Hello our dear supporters! Thanks to a generous contribution currently being processed we have crossed over our halfway mark, and have just $1500 more dollars to raise to meet our intial fundraising goal! We're now starting our micro-donor drive. If we can make a quota of 100 micro-donors at the $10 level, David Flowers will finish, record, and release one of his greatest creations: The Squishy Staircase Blues.

Our first community partner to receive donated tickets will be Artist's Resource Collaborative for Kids, Boston! And tickets are on sale now! You can purchase them here: https://www.clausura.org/tickets

One of our long-term goals at Shift is an online music-educational platform where we explore instrumental music in and outside of the Europrean classical tradition. A robust micro-donor drive will show potential future board-members the interest and reach of such an endeavor. Our heroes in this realm of content creation are Complexly and PBS Digital Studios.
When and where?
September 11th, 5:30PM at the Emmanuel church in downtown Boston

What?
The Shift Orchestra Project, in collaboration with Cappella Clausura, presents one of the most hauntingly beautiful works by one of today's leading composers: Sarah Kirkland Snider's "Mass for the Endangered". Filled with soaring harmonies, bouyant textures, and ominous rhythms, this contemplative composition--accompanied by the gorgeous video-artwork of Deborah Johnson--crosses centuries of musical tradition and offers the listener the opportunity to reflect on our relationship with the environment, the splendor of the natural world, the daunting task ahead of us, and the determination to persevere.

The concert will also feature works by Sven-David Sandström and Grammy-nominated performer Ayanna Woods. Sandström's "To see a world", setting a text from William Blake could not be a better prelude for the Mass, as it sets us up to observe. The final movement from Woods "Shift", ends our performance by echoing themes of determination in Snider's "Mass", and urging us forward.

Who?
The Shift Orchestra Project is a new musician's collective dedicated to pursuing new concert formats and creative programming. By designing projects with local businesses and arts organizations within communities around Boston, we aim to create relevant and accessible experiences for new listeners, and offer fresh perspectives for long-time fans of the orchestra.

Cappella Clausura promotes the performance of music created by women, which has often languished unheard. Our repertoire ranges from cloistered nuns of the 9th century to a diverse group of contemporary women composers. We seek to reconfigure the world of classical music by recognizing the contributions of women, reclaiming a place for underrepresented artists, and reimagining what this field can be.

And?
We have musicians, we have a venue, we have the technology, we have all the rights to perform our music, so now we just need you! This project is not possible without the support of our community of friends, family, and supporters. Your contribution will help ensure the success of the project by helping us pay our musicians, develop our audience, and pay for all the behind-the-scenes logistics you never have to see at a concert. In addition, your support will help us keep ticket prices affordable for this event.

If you can't contribute financially at this time, you can share! Maybe you have connections, maybe you have social media! The more exposure this campaign receives, the better our chances of reaching our goal.
