We are currently fundraising to help us get into a studio space by October 1st! Please support us in opening Portland's first non-profit community sewing studio
About us:
Sincere Studio is a community sewing studio whose mission is to provide textile arts education with a focus on art as a tool of social change.
Sincere Studio views the legacies of cultural institutions such as
the Freedom Quilting Bee and
the AIDS Quilt as important parts of American history as well as amazing examples of the power of sewing and community. Sincere Studio imagines a space where communities can come together through craft, conversation, and maybe a good cup of coffee to collaborate and have fun in an environment that promotes togetherness and safety.
Sustainability will be the foundation of Sincere Studio. The studio will run on a zero-waste model with all unusable fabric going to fabric recycling.
Founder Frances Andonopoulos has been quilting for almost ten years and has a passion for teaching and social change. They have participated and organized in many collaborative quilting projects and are actively involved in mutual aid efforts in their community.
Sincere Studio is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the charitable purposes of Sincere Studio must be made payable to “Fractured Atlas” only and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
