Across the world, fear of repression, retribution, and annihilation paralyzes hearts and minds. The arts provide an antidote to fear by speaking the hidden and the forbidden and practicing sympathy and solidarity. Singapore Unbound, with its unique blend of events and publications, amplifies the essential voices of the arts. Help us pay 100 Authors and Artists next year.

A transnational literary organization based in New York City, Singapore Unbound envisions and works for a creative and fulfilling life for everyone through the arts and activism.

Guided by our Five-Point Compass, we organize mind-expanding literary festivals and a long-running monthly reading series that featured exciting authors from across the world, such as Gina Apostol (Philippines/USA), Min Jin Lee (Korea/USA), Monique Truong (Vietnam/USA), Salil Tripathi (India/USA), and Jeremy Tiang (Singapore/USA).

Our indie press Gaudy Boy publishes extraordinary voices. And award judges agree with us. Jhani Randhawa’s Time Regime won the Gold Medal in Poetry in the California Book Awards. Rahad Abir’s novel Bengal Hound won the Georgia Author of the Year Award. Just this year, Interrogation Records, by Jeddie Sophronius (Indonesia/USA), won the Lambda Literary Award for Bisexual Poetry.

Now in its fourth year, our literary journal SUSPECT is at the forefront of bringing marginalized and subversive voices and perspectives to readers. We’ve published special themed portfolios of indigenous maritime Southeast Asian writing and art, words and images that address the intersection of economy and ecology, and stories inspired by controversial political dissidents

Make a generous donation so that we can pay 100 Authors and Artists next year. We strongly believe that, like any other workers, artists should be paid for their creative work. The Singapore Unbound team is wholly made up of passionate volunteers, so every cent you donate goes directly to artists and programs.

We aim to raise USD5,200 through this Fractured Atlas campaign. A donation of $100 pays ONE author for their valuable contribution to SUSPECT journal. A donation of $50 helps to sustain ONE visual artist in their work. The more you give, the more Authors and Artists you can help.
