It's our dream to make independent theater that speaks to the important issues of our time - issues that aren't being addressed elsewhere. But we need your support to cover the basic costs of renting rehearsal space, purchasing basic equipment, and paying our production and creative team for their time and talent.
Your tax-deductible contributions will keep the lights on as we stage and rehearse this piece, help us with minimal costume, lighting, sound and set design costs, and help ensure that our artists and designers are supported as any other professionals.
We're really proud of Tosca Tehran. This original piece by director Shadi Ghaheri started its journey at Opera America, was awarded a staged reading in Atlantic Theater's Immigrant Festival, and now will be part of Rough Draft's 2020 Festival for three performances in March - April 2020!
Tosca Tehran is the story of a group of Iranian actors who risk persecution, arrest, and violence in order to perform the uncensored Tosca in an international festival in Tehran, Iran. Tosca Tehran is a thrilling and timely account of how religion is currently being weaponized to arrest, execute and destroy those who believe in love, freedom and justice.
