Worm is quite happy being a just that: a worm. However, there is one thing missing - this worm wants teeth. And you, yes you, are going to help it get them! Follow along on Worm’s journey as it meets old friends, sings some songs, and discovers how far it's willing to go for some pearly whites. In the end, it is up to you - will you help Worm get the teeth it wants? Or will you take things a step further and help it get what it really needs?
Written by Kelsey Sullivan, the most playful playwright in the biz
Directed by Alex Moon, worm ally and non-binary forest dweller
Produced by SMaK Productions, three fierce, feral, and frighteningly fun femmes
- Jenna Meadows, Abrah Ophelia Katzman, and Kelsey Sullivan
Worm Teeth is not just a 75 minute high octane fable and interactive theatre piece. It is a PLAYGROUND that encourages audiences to interact, explore, and most importantly, have FUN while they join Worm on its journey to reach self-acceptance. If you like gloop, blood, and dentist slander, then you will LOVE this show.
This piece has found homes all across the US, from Valdez, Alaska (Valdez Theatre Conference <3) to New York City (The Brick’s ?!:New Works Festival) - now, it is finally time to share the joy of this show with audiences across the pond! We have been presented with a remarkable opportunity to present Worm Teeth as a part of the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and we need your help to bring it to the stage!
Edinburgh Fringe is an important step for Worm Teeth as a show, and the emerging artists behind it.
Firstly -
We want to bring the joy of this show to new audiences around the globe. We want to allow international audiences to experience firsthand how valuing and ritualising fun can enhance the values by which we lead our everyday lives, and help us to build strong communities that celebrate and support their members. Edinburgh Fringe is a remarkably popular festival with visitors from around the globe coming to attend shows, and thus, would allow us to reach a wide range of audiences.
Additionally -
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is known as a “career starter.” For a team made up of talented emerging artists who wish to further establish ourselves as professional writers, actors, and producers, this festival is an important step towards reaching this goal. And we want to do it together. As friends and collaborators who have worked together for over 5 years, and who have been tied to Worm Teeth in some capacity since it was written in 2021, we are committed to this show and to each other, and trust that all will take us where we need to go.
And your donation (yes, yours!) is what will make this happen! With your help, we will be able to:
- Rent a performance venue in the heart of Edinburgh (TBD)
- Pay our beautifully talented and amazingly gorgeous cast and crew, (I mean, Alexandra Hess and Abrah Katzman in one building?? What could be better?!)
- Secure space for our team to rehearse in
- Build our wild and whimsical set
Art should be sustainable, artists should be paid a living wage for their time and effort, and your support helps to turn these statements into realities.
If you can't donate right now, that's okay! Please consider sharing this link to your page, and following @kelsey_sullivan__ and @jennaameadows on Instagram for production updates!
Thank you for supporting emerging artists and new works! It's people like you that keep the arts scene alive. We hope that you are able to come out and be a part of Worm Teeth - it's for you, after all. See you there. Bring your teeth!
