SonDeBaril is mounting its new work, “Madre”, under the musical direction of Yiyi Orozco and artistic direction & choreography by Ela Razon, with dance and music created simultaneously.
Madre is a reclaiming of our connection to Earth. We recognize ourselves as part of nature.
Like the planet, our body has an astonishing capacity to regenerate and heal. Life is unstoppable. By tapping into our latent power within, we bring our senses to this life force energy.
Physicality draws us back into natural rhythms. With gravity central in flamenco, the dance is rooted to the ground, and rises and falls with the music. We delve into the sensations expressed and attune to the planet’s stability.
Madre calls us to take a breath, find our axis, and listen to that low deep sound of the drum. Earth.
If you’re here, you might also be feeling a rising tide of creativity. We’re tired of destruction. We invite you to ride this wave with us.
Help us produce Madre!
The funds from your support will go directly towards: theater rental, sound, lighting, stage management, prints, and marketing.
Ticket sales, sponsorships, and grant funding will cover other costs such as artist fees, studio space, and the creative process.
We hope you are inspired to contribute at one of the giving levels we’ve prepared. No amount is too small or too big. And every dollar of your tax-deductible donation will go into producing this performance and enriching flamenco in our community.
Our aim with this production is to evoke a deep caring sensitivity towards ourselves, each other, and our environment.
We can’t wait to see you at the live performance in the fall. And for those in other parts of the world, we’ll offer an opportunity to see the performance on video for the first time!
Madre happens with your support! Thank you so much for the opportunity to create moments with you and share our work. It’s our hope that flamenco enriches your life as much as it does ours.
