Songs for World Peace (SWP) is a global initiative with over 100 musicians from more than 80 countries all working towards a goal to release 190+ songs about world peace written by 190+ artists representing 190+ countries and performed in more than 60 languages. It is to promote peace by bringing awareness about global issues, creating unity, and sharing joy through the power of music.
Why and How We Started?
There have been increased global issues such as COVID-19, war, climate change, and mental health crisis that have distributed peace in and around us. With a firm belief that music has been a powerful medium of expression in helping to bring awareness to global issues, the SWP was formed to share voices from all the countries, promote unity and celebrate peace through music as a collective response.
What We Do On September 21 (UN Peace Day), we release songs about world peace written in native languages by artists from around the globe. Since our launch in 2020, we have released 90+ songs by 100+ artists from 80+ countries. (Listen here) Peace Day Panel Discussion is one of the biggest events on September 21 where we invite world leaders for us to learn and exchange ideas.
Collaborative event with MTLTo support our peace artists, we collaborated with Music To Life (MTL) to hold a new online educational series with insights into building music-driven approaches to peace building for musicians, allies, and stakeholders around the world. The first series started with a theme of “music & change” presented by Brydie-Leigh Bartleet, the president of the social impact of music making May 2022 (Link to event)
