Dreamland is a collectively unconscious plane where two characters, Lewis and Linna, meet in their dreams. While here they explore concepts that they don't get to express in the physical world and help each other through different hurdles they find themselves facing.
Synopsis of Feature: Lewis and Linna are two people working through fantastic hurdles in their mental health. Lewis is working through the grief of losing his girlfriend to suicide. Alone, with no real support in her life, Linna feels a lack of control and a lack of identity as a result. The world happens around her and she suffers through it. At this low point in their lives they meet each other in their dreams. Their life struggles ebb and flow as they explore many concepts in their shared unconscious.
The concept of this film is to show that no matter how bad things seem there is always a voice out there that can say the right thing to help pull you out of hell, even if it's a stranger in your dream.
About the Campaign
The Feature film "Dreamland" is set to begin principal photography in the Denver area Spring/Summer 2023. The purpose of this campaign is to fund the production of a concept film. This concept film will be made up of a series of professional shorts depicting Lewis and Linna's types of encounters in Dreamland is to act as a promotional tool as well as proof of concept for the feature as we raise the necessary funds to fill out the budget.
What is Phase 1? The Dreamland production has been broken up into 5 phases of production. We are currently at the end of the development phase looking for the funds to propel us forward into production. As needed, we intend to have a corresponding campaign for each phase of the production allowing everyone who would like to get involved the opportunity, but this is the most crucial to give us the momentum we need.
Who are we? Spencer (Writer, Director, Performer) is a Denver based Actor, Director and all around Theatre and Film Artist. Spencer holds a BA in Theatre and BA in Cinema and Screen Studies from SUNY Oswego. He studied at the Moscow Art Theatre for an acting intensive. Before relocating to Denver Spencer founded a production company in Philadelphia, Sewer Rats Productions, through which he had provided creative support for independent artists as well as produced a variety of projects. Ali Renner (Performer, Collaborator) is a multi-platform artist, and performer. In addition to studying at the Moscow Art Theatre she holds a BA in Journalism, and has performed with the New Jersey Renaissance Faire and in various independent works.
Spencer Ventresca and Ali Renner met in 2018 studying abroad at the Moscow Art Theatre. For the years following they shared a mutual mentorship. Each faced with their own obstacles and mental hurdles the years would bring. They had found that despite there being miles constantly between them, finding good health is a task best handled with a partner. Both Spencer and Ali have faced difficulties in their mental health and this has had a strong impact on their work and artistic endeavors
