As we are about to enter our NINTH YEAR of producing theatre, Tier5 is thrilled to announce our enchanting 2025 mainstage season: SEASON OF THE WITCH, but we need the help of our patrons and donors to bring the magic to life.

Last year, our A SEASON OF SHAKESQUEER became one of our most successful and highly attended seasons ever, featuring two mammoth full productions with JULIUS: HARLEM'S CAESAR and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, plus four staged readings and our ongoing SPOOKYFEST series at The Tank NYC.

Despite this being one of our most successful season, there is still a huge deficit between the what our shows gross and how much they cost to produce. That fact of the matter is: creating theatre in the current landscape is EXPENSIVE. And that's where we need your help!

The biggest expense for every production is renting our theatre space and making sure that our actors, creatives, and designers are compensated. With shows that feature as many as 25-30 people on the production, making our talent is compensated in a small way can add up!

OUR GOAL & MISSON

For Tier5 2025, we are looking to raise $5000 before the end of the year, in order to guarantee we can move forward with this season: feeling financially secure and ready to continue creating exceptional and boundary pushing art that reframes classical texts, tropes, and moments in history, and places those previously excluded from the narrative front and center.

ABOUT THE SEASON

Tier5 will return to to El Barrio's ArtSpace PS109 for 2025 with two full productions that will have you asking the question: are you a good with or a bad witch?

William Shakespeare's MACBETH
February 27th through March 9th, 2025

When Mr. Macbeth receives a prophecy from a wayward coven of witches that one day he will rule, will he be able to screw his courage to the sticking place, or just be screwed?

Shakespeare's most infamous power couple, The Macbeths, become even more iconic as we transform them into a queer couple desperately trying to overcome society's constructs and standards in order to take their proper place... on the throne. After all, hell knows no fury like queer ambition.

THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ by James Cougar Canfield
Adapted from the novel by L. Frank Baum

August 7th through 24th, 2025

In celebration of the 125th anniversary of L. Frank Baum's legendary novel being published, Tier5 is over the rainbow to produce a full production of James Cougar Canfield's hilarious, heartfelt, and poignant adaptation.

Shortly after her parents' deaths, Dorothy has come to the middle of God-knows-where Kansas to live with her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry. Lonely and bored, Dorothy is slowly turning sepia, until a cyclone carries her to the mysterious and dangerous Land of Oz.

This contemporary adaptation follows Dorothy on her journey to meet the Wizard of Oz, and to kill a witch or two. Through her adventures, she must find the courage, heart, and sense to come to terms with her parents' deaths and find her way home.

Tickets will go on sale for both production in 2025.

What this fundraiser will help cover:

  • Stipends for our actors, creatives, designers, and talent. It's vitally important to us at Tier5 to compensate all for their time.
  • Theatre and rehearsal space rental. Having a theatre to perform in and a space big enough to rehearsal our main stage productions is an absolutely necessity.
  • Insurance coverage. One of the less glamorous parts of the process, but making sure we're insured to create a safe place for our teams is a must!
  • Printing. From scripts, to posters, to programs (yes, you head it first, if we raise enough money, we'll bring back PRINTED PROGRAMS), it all adds up.
  • Filling out our costume, props, scenic, and lighting budgets. Help us make the visions of designers dream up come to life exactly how they want them to!!
  • Any other bits and bobs that come along, because they ALWAYS come along.
