SLMDances is a collective of diverse women telling diverse stories. This fall we are deepening our transparency of our experiences as artists in New York City by launching our #SLMDBodyBiz10K Campaign to build SLMDances power.
Inspired by the Economic Profile of our Artistic Director Sydnie L. Mosley, the SLMDances Creative Partners and sharing our BodyBusiness Stories. Listen each week to We Makin' It with Creative Partner Kadie Henderson, as we speak candidly about our budgets and bank accounts, while sustaining a commitment to impacting our communities with our gifts as artists.

Our hope? Sharing our stories with you will make plain our needs as dance artists, deepen our relationship with you, and inspire you and all SLMDances community members to think and act from a place of abundance, empathy and urgency so that together we raise $10,000 by December 31.

- The Window Sex Project Community Workshops offered FREE to respond to gender-based sexual harassment in public spaces
- PURPLE Engagements: Co-creating site-specific performance work with women elders & long time residents of NYCHA to amplify their stories of living in public housing communities
We create dance works for the benefit of people from marginalized communities.
Providing for our community members we creatively engage with food, free dance classes, and compensated co-creation of performance work allows us to create liberated spaces where folks feel valued and cared for.
Providing thriving wages to our artists allows us to prioritize hiring artists with marginalized identities who often are not able to commit to our work due to economic stress.
