The World Premiere of That True Phoenix by Daniel John Kelley is fast-approaching. As a small independent theater company, every donation, big or small, makes a huge difference. Over the next month we are aiming to raise $5000.
HOW YOUR DONATION HELPS
By donating to this production, your money goes directly to:
- Artist fees for actors and designers
- Building the world of That True Phoenix with props, sets, costumes, projections, and music
- Rental of our performance space at The Access Theater
- Rental of rehearsal spaces
- Printing costs of scripts, programs, and promotional materials (like postcards!)
WHY YOU SHOULD HELP
After the success of Team Awesome Robot's first production, Rush by Callie Kimball, we were interested in building a play with a playwright from the ground-up. In April 2016, Daniel John Kelley's brilliant idea to write a play about the librettist Lorenzo Da Ponte struck a chord with Artistic Director Christopher Diercksen. Since then, Daniel and Team Awesome Robot have been writing and workshopping its next production.That True Phoenix is the story of Lorenzo Da Ponte: the most interesting man you've never heard of. Far more than just the Librettist for Mozart's greatest Operas, Da Ponte still ended up as a mere footnote in history. How could a life lived so fully fall into obscurity?
