Five years ago, we came together to defy our own stereotypes. The work we were creating was dark and brutal and badass, but people still came up to us to say “how did YOU do that?” Weren’t we too blonde, too bubbly, too female to create work that scared people, that moved people of all genders?

Fueled by a kindred rage at being underestimated — we proudly formed The Dirty Blondes — and put what people thought about us front and center. We created 25 productions and featured 500 artists. The company and the conversations we support through the work we create has grown much bigger than just the two of us — it’s a community.

We need your help to become a thriving Off-Broadway theater company. To do that, we need to expand our budget, and if you are able, we hope you will consider contributing. Even the smallest amount will help keep us on track and your donation will go directly towards paying artists, securing rehearsal space, paying designers, securing props and technical equipment, paying necessary administrative staff, and securing Off-Broadway performance spaces to accommodate you — our growing audience.

We’ve spent the past five years creating a community, and now we need your help to do more.

Your donation will create politically-charged short-play festivals, staged readings of new and undiscovered plays, and productions of brand new plays by bold new playwrights. You’ll help us do more to stay true to our mission to create defiant and smart theater by emboldened and unconventional artists that fosters progressive conversations. You’ll be able to grow this community so that all artists to know that their work is valid here, as long as they are willing to create defiantly, make bold choices and participate in a conversation much bigger than the self.

We’ve taken the past six months to reshape the workings of our company and set ourselves up for success. We've revamped our mission, our branding, and our programming to create a whole new era of Blonde. We’ve brought on board more producers and a literary manager to continue our growth.

Make a bigger impact in the downtown and Off-Broadway theater landscape by enabling us to produce bigger & better mainstage events: including

 world premiere plays by bold new artists and short play festivals and variety nights (a la The Resister Project) by a community of theater makers willing to lend their collective voices to the important and timely social issues.

Foster an exciting community of diverse artists by offering unique collaboration opportunities in our Play-in-a-Day festivals, where artists come together as strangers and take 24 hours to create and perform brand new 10-minute plays.

Develop and nurture the best new plays coming out of New York’s most exciting emerging artists through our conversation and reading series, the Beta Reading Series where plays are workshopped, read and discussed with a team of actors, directors and a live audience.
