In 2023 we celebrated our ten year anniversary, and what a better way to ring in the new year than launching our biggest campaign yet! This year, we are pledging to raise $10,000.00! By making a tax-deductible donation, you can be part of our journey in 2024. Without your partnership over the past ten years, we wouldn't have been able to come this far. Now, we ask your help in getting us to the next level.
2023 brought growth on unprecedented levels for us. Months and months of rehearsals culminated in our largest scale production yet, Muse by Frank Tangredi. We curated the second annual Upper West Side Short Film Festival at Goddard Riverside, sharing work from all over the world, including the film we shot in 2022, Dating a Murder Mystery Character, which we completed post production on. We showcased 11 short films, three fine artists and a musical performance. We created the art show From Life to Abstraction- showcasing the work of Jeff Tocci, Anna Effenberger and Pia Pownall. We invested in Intimacy, Anti-Racism and Allyship Training. We offered a Low-Cost Actor Training Class on a monthly basis, helping artists to grow regardless of their financial position. Our Writer's Group took place twice a month on zoom, with writer's from around the country tuning in to share and develop their new work. We are thrilled to say we made a huge dent in our 2023 goals.
In the year to come, we have our most ambitious plans yet, and we need your help! Every contribution, no matter the size, gets us one step closer to our goal.
We're kicking off the year with an our 7th Ten Minute Play Soiree celebrating female playwrights in March as part of Women's Arts Month. This spring, we're looking to produce our first full scale musical theater production, as rights pending, we'll be sharing Wild Party by Andrew Lippa. This will be tremendously expensive, and we rely on our contributions to help fund rehearsal and performance space, set design, costumes, marketing materials, rights to the script and the music and of course, money for the artists involved. (With a cast of 13 plus designers, choreographers and intimacy directors, it's a large group!) Summer time will bring us to our next short film- a brand new script being developed by Artistic Director Hazen Cuyler. In the fall, we'll be curating the 3rd Upper West Side Short Film Festival, And that's just the productions. We'll be finally finishing post production on The Unspeakable Passion of Mitch Devoe, a project that has been years in the making. Your contributions will help with the costs to finish the film, and to begin paying submission fees for festivals. We'll be continuing our low-cost acting classes, our writer's group on zoom and our commitment to our community by making sure we are the best artists we can be. We're launching a new educational initiative next year- a monthly webinar series offered to the general public. Our month long low-cost acting classes, as well as our free Writer's Group will continue.
We will continue to offer free and low cost tickets to our audience, because at Greenhouse we firmly believe that art should be accessible to everyone regardless of their financial situation, and your contributions help to off-set the costs and allow us to continue supporting our philosophy.
Thank you for your ongoing love and support! It takes a lot to keep the work going even in the best of times. We thank all of you for the support you have given us as friends, audience members, advisors, and donors.
