Healing the River. Building a Legacy.
The Heartwood Revival is transforming cypress logs salvaged from the July 2025 flood into a permanent public art trail of hope and resilience. First, We Heal the Heart.
The devastating July 2025 flood of the Guadalupe River left a deep wound on the local Hill Country community. The Heartwood Revival was created not to forget this loss, but to honor it and bring healing through art.
We are taking the very symbols of that loss—these salvaged, giant cypress logs—and transforming them into breathtaking public art creating a free public art trail for the communities of Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville and Comfort, to build lasting hope and resilience.
This trail is a direct investment in economic stability.
The "Carving Revival" Plan.
This campaign is for Phase 1&2. Our current goal is to raise $141,000 for the "River Valley Launch" in Ingram & Hunt Texas. This phase includes:
- Five Monumental Sculptures: Creating the first five public sculptures for Ingram and Hunt with specific locations chosen by a community steering committee for maximum healing and public benefit.
- The "Carving Revival" Event: A 14-day artistic residency where an elite team of artists will bring the felled giants back to life.
A Crucial Promise to the Community.
A Crucial Promise to the Community Local residents are focused on rebuilding, so this is a national call for support. We ask friends across the U.S. to fund this healing work without further burdening the community. In-kind donations of materials, services, or expertise are as valuable as monetary contributions. (In-kind donations may be tax-deductible.)
Transparency
Your contribution is an investment in healing. This lean, professional, and community-supported campaign has a $141,000 goal to cover three essential pillars: the artists, the production, and financial safeguards.
Project Costs to be Funded:- 50% goes directly to Program Services (The Art).
- 30% covers essential Project Management & Production.
- 20% is allocated for Financial Safeguards & Administration.
1. The Art ($70,000): This is the heart of the mission. These funds are paid directly to the 3-person professional artist team, led by master carver Jeff Mohr, for their 14-day "Carving Revival" residency to create the first 5 monumental sculptures for the public art trail.
2. Project Management & Production ($42,250): To ensure the successful and safe execution of this monumental 14-day event, this portion funds the essential "how." This is a crucial investment in professional stewardship, accountability, and safety. This funding covers:
- Professional Project Direction: To manage the complex, minute-by-minute logistics of a live event with multiple world-class artists.
- Safety & Logistics: Funding for dedicated on-site safety management, heavy equipment operation (like cranes and forklifts), and the logistics of moving monumental logs.
- Operational Costs: Artist travel, event insurance, marketing to bring the community to the event, and all project consumables (fuel, oil, carving supplies, etc.).
3. Financial Safeguards & Administration: $28,750 (20%)
This portion ensures the project is financially responsible, accountable, and sustainable.
- Fiscal Sponsorship Fee (8% - $11,200): This covers the 8% administrative fee for our fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas, which allows us to receive tax-deductible donations and provides essential operational support.
- Project Contingency Fund (~12% - $16,550): As with any large-scale artistic production, this fund is set aside for unexpected overruns or surprises, ensuring we can deliver the project on time and on budget without having to make a second appeal.
TOTAL: $141,000
This art trail is the "key" to our long-term "Riverbank Revival" mission. Your contribution today doesn't just fund art; it launches a movement to heal the river from the roots up.
