At The Liminal Theatre Collective (TLTC), we believe theatre has the power to connect, challenge, and transform. As a collective of multidisciplinary artists, we develop and produce new and reimagined works by artists of color, exploring the spaces between tradition and change. Committed to nurturing the next generation, we provide emerging artists of color with the resources, training, and opportunities they need to thrive.

As featured in American Theatre Magazine and BroadwayWorld, TLTC is redefining the stage as a space for transformation, access, and bold storytelling.

Timeline & Goals

We aim to raise $30,000 by the end of the campaign to cover the costs of the first half of our season, including:

  • Our first Liminal Lab: Reclamation: Beyond the Veil
(including reimbursed out-of-pocket costs for production expenses)
  • The first pilot program of The Ivy Initiative
  • Our first reading of The First Draft Series: Hayati by Leah Mijalski-Fahim
  • A Benefit Reading of Sanctuary City by Martyna Majok
  • One masterclass
  • One Portal Session
  • Reimbursed out-of-pocket administrative costs associated with running the programs

Your contributions will help us reach this goal by May 31, 2025.

Our Vision: Beyond the Status Quo

Your generosity will help expand TLTC’s programs, launch our first productions, and provide fully subsidized, world-class training for the next generation of diverse theatre artists.
Here’s how we’re making it happen:

  • Groundbreaking Performances – We create works that explore and celebrate the in-between spaces of culture, identity, and human experience, beginning with our inaugural performance experience: Reclamation: Beyond the Veil.
  • The Ivy Initiative – A fully subsidized conservatory-level training program for high school juniors and seniors from historically excluded backgrounds. This tuition-free initiative focuses on arts education, college preparation, and circular mentorship.
  • Liminal Labs & The First Draft Series – Developmental workshops and readings supporting new and reimagined works by artists of color. These programs serve as a pipeline from incubation to full production, ensuring emerging voices are nurtured at every stage.
  • Portal Sessions – Regular community gathering sessions that serve as an open forum for creative exchange, collaboration, reflection, and action.

Why The Ivy Initiative?

We address three critical issues:

1) Limited access to quality arts education in low-income communities.

2) The lack of reflective diversity within conservatory faculty and student bodies.

3) The poor college experience for many students of color in conservatories

Named in honor of TLTC Artistic Director Azudi Onyejekwe’s late mother, a lifelong educator, The Ivy Initiative bridges these gaps by providing professional training, mentorship, resources, industry access, and a lifetime network—all free of cost for young artists of color.

The initiative is proudly supported by Nichelle Lewis, Drama League and Grammy-nominated, Theatre World Award-winning Broadway star, and recent Dorothy in The Wiz, who serves as its ambassador. Its faculty includes Emmy Award-winning actors, Broadway professionals, and Yale School of Drama faculty, among others.
