Our new show, Our Lady of the Clouds, is a play written by Argentine playwright Arístides Vargas during his exile in Ecuador. The show follows two shape-shifting exiles, Oscar (played by the effervescent and ever-versatile Ivan Goris) and Bruna (our fun-sized power house, Kenia Munguia), revisiting memories of their homeland. Through a series of fragmented, humorous, and haunting encounters, the exiles and the 10+ characters they each play (ask them how they managed to remember transitions) grapple with censorship, displacement, and the psychological impact of dictatorship. 

We presented a workshop of the show in December 2025, a co-production between The Mechanicals and F.U.N. Collective, with rave reviews (we are not lying! Promise, see the reviews below), and were even awarded two grants by the Brooklyn Arts Council for a full production this year. 

Our Lady of the Clouds will run for one week at Brooklyn Art Haus in December 2026, with one preview, five ticketed performances alongside post-show conversations and an art gallery serving as a pre-show gathering space with artistic activations exploring migration, exile, and solidarity.

But seriously… We believe this work resonates strongly with contemporary threats to democracy in the United States, offering audiences a poetic and HILARIOUSLY satirical lens to reflect on the importance of civic participation and the fragility of democracy. 

The show is magical, absurd, vaguely historical but mostly, our way to strengthen our communities.

Recently, the DHS Secretary released a photo of Haitian men being deported on the third recorded deportation flight to Haiti in three weeks, with every person in chains. HUMANS, chained. It left us heartbroken and thinking: What are we doing about it? 

As Toni Morrison once said, “This is precisely the time when artists go to work.” We’re aware of the limitations of theatre providing direct support to people caught up in the dehumanization machine, but what we know for sure is that our show can awaken audiences, fight desensitization, and mobilize our networks of care, so we can actually practice what we preach.

There’s strength in numbers and there IS still hope. To be dangerous to dictators and expose their deception, we must converge and fight for the world we want. We can’t give up. 

For this year, we need your support to get us to the finish line. We need to raise 3k to cover set construction wages and our fabulous, colorful design elements, including our costumes and props, along with our rehearsal space. Everything else is covered by grants and projected ticket sales.
