The #metoo Plays
A tribute to the heroes who speak out and the survivors who can't, the harassed, the assaulted and the abused. A series of short plays from around the world that tackle varied perspectives of the complex #metoo movement.
Celine Havard (Producer) has directed, acted and produced Off-Broadway, Off-Off Broadway and Regionally for over three decades. Havard was a founding member of Abingdon Theatre Company, Stagedotorg and The Alternative Theatre Company. She's worked with many NYC theater organizations including Pulse Ensemble Theatre Co., The Greenhouse Ensemble, Intar, the Women’s Project, the Drama League, New Directions, The New Professional Theatre and the Artist Co-op. Havard edits books, plays for stage and screenplays as a Script Doctor and ghost writer. Havard considers her job to serve, to share knowledge, and to nurture and support her collaborators with work that betters the world in some way.
The project is fortunate to have enlisted the involvement of around 60 highly qualified actors, 37 playwrights and 16 talented directors.
Showcase pre-trial staged readings were conducted in which audiences voted on their favorite plays. Stimulating talkbacks engaged actors, directors, playwrights and audience members alike that gave feedback necessary to help decide which plays were most likely to resonate with the most voices possible. Actors and directors list regional, OB and Broadway credits and can all be perused on the website: metooplays.com. Excerpts from the readings can be sampled on the metooplays YouTube channel.
Based on audience votes, website feedback, and the Honorary Committee Selection, 16 of these plays will be chosen to be fully produced in alternating rep programs Thursday November 29th - December 9th, 2018 as an Off-Broadway Showcase Production in Midtown Manhattan. Tickets on sale soon.
All creatives will be paid.
A percentage of funds will be donated to the support of assault and domestic abuse advocacy.
