an immersive theatrical experience with 2 musicians, 3 walls of stunning video projection, 1 family migration story… Moth meets Flame, Mozart meets KISS, Art meets Science – bring your dancing shoes
The MOTH PROJECT: a NYC-based electro/acoustic duo
in-still: to impart gradually; e.g. to instill a love of nature in humans
in-still-ation: see above, add a venue; e.g. The MOTH PROJECT's “in-still-ation” will be featured at Minnesota Fringe July 31 – Aug 10, 2025
Founded by the GRAMMY-nominated Canadian producer Peter Kiesewalter (“highbrow and brilliant” – New York Magazine), The MOTH PROJECT features violinist Whitney La Grange and a genre-defying range of musical styles from Bach to KISS to Joni to original tunes with moth-related titles like “Pheromones,” “Emergence,” and “Migration.”
Their 2023 debut album forms the musical basis of this NEW multidisciplinary show, an immersive theatrical experience which invites audiences on a parallel journey of moths and humans. Equal parts story, concert, lecture, jaw-dropping surround visual experience, and booty shaking afterparty, this fundraising campaign is the result of invitations from a number of theaters in North America - from Texas to Toronto - to perform extended runs of the show in their venues.
The first stop is a 2-week run at the Red Eye Theater in Minneapolis as part of the Minnesota Fringe in August 2025, the largest performing arts festival in the Midwest. The funds raised in this campaign will be used to cover the creative and technical costs of filming, licensing, designing, editing, and integrating the new video content with new music and environmental sound design. The MOTH PROJECT will work closely with video designers, photographers, graphic artists, biologists, and entomologists from Canada and the United States in the coming months to create the 270 degrees (3 surround walls) of visuals.
