Yes. Macbeth has been brought to the screen before. Our portrayal, however, is born from a purposeful study of Shakespeare’s original play, to fully unmask the story and delve deeper into the psychological elements, exposing the Macbeths’ downfall through a haunted and terrifying descent into madness.
Our film will explore the horrifying consequences of unchecked desires, grievous manipulation, and the profound impact of guilt on the human soul as devised through the cunning ruse of the three weird women.
Shakespeare’s witches will pervade the story with omnipotent presence and deceptive manifestations.
The film will be dark, disturbing and tragically human.
We see society, and the world for that matter, continue to grapple with issues of power dynamics, laying witness to its effects. We also recognize that we are living in an era where the genre of psychological horror films continues to captivate audiences, offering insights into the darkest corners of the human mind. So there's no better time to adapt "The Tragedy of Macbeth" into a cinematic experience that illuminates the unsettling and destructive faces of ambition, power, and guilt, and reflects the fragility of humanity in its wake.
Our team comprises passionate and visionary creatives and filmmakers who are committed to reimagining the impetus of this classic tale.
Director John DeSotelle - known for his expertise in crafting atmospheric and intuitively intense productions for decades on the stage - will lead the charge, along with Producer Juancho Rodriguez.
We've carefully assembled a skilled and dedicated production team, exceptionally talented and inventive designers, and a cast of extraordinarily gifted actors all of whom are bursting with ideas that will heighten and inform this haunting film.
We need your help. We are currently slated to start shooting in 2025. But there is a lot of work to do before we first shout “action”!
To bring our deeply haunting ideas to life and create a film that does justice to the fear and torment inherent in Macbeth’s story, requires meticulous attention to detail, from set design that captures the eerie atmosphere to top-tier cinematography that reflect the characters' unraveling psyche.
