Support Community & Personal Healing
Beginning May 31, This Moment in America workshops will begin online and in-person. These workshops are 12 hours of content that include:
- Writing exercises that encourage healing from stress & trauma;
- Instruction in the craft of writing for performance;
- Breathing & movement practices to foster creativity;
- Performance exercises that promote confidence in public speaking;
- Instruction in the craft of acting, specifically for audio/voice acting;
- Community building based in our shared humanity
Your support provides workshop scholarships so that a person's ability to pay is not a barrier to their ability to participate.
Story-sharing is one tool in healing from stress & trauma. By creating the story of your experience - one that has a beginning, middle, and end - you can begin to process the experience and move towards healing. These workshops have been developed to encourage healing and provide an opportunity to share our stories with one another, uniting in our shared humanity.
There are six workshop sessions available this summer: two 6-week online workshops on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (meetings are once a week) and four weekend workshops. Your support allows us to provide the workshop at reduced cost or free.
Our goal is to reach an audience that is both rural and urban, amplifying voices that are not represented, or underrepresented, in media. In creating a space for each person's voice to be heard, in sharing a space where we all come to listen and lean in to understanding, it is our belief that we will find more to unite us than what divides us.
