LOGLINE: Robbie and Wes race against the clock to get a free couch they found on Facebook Marketplace at the risk of accruing egregious (and interdimensional?) hidden fees from UMOVE.
Robbie, played by Rohan Padmakumar Wes, played by Wynton Jones Taking place within a universe where the mundane is hyperbolized and magic isn't questioned, "U~MOVE" is a surprising and humorous short that explores the scramble to do and be something important.
If you enjoy movies like Problemista, Bottle Rocket, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Superbad, you'd love "U~MOVE," and are encouraged to donate! And also if you like Facebook Marketplace. Or don't. Either way, you should donate.
Why Invest?
Payday!
We want to be able to pay everyone on set for their hard work and creativity, so a sizeable amount of your donation will be going to everyone involved, from PA's to DP's to any other acronyms you can think of!
Post Production!
We have an ambitious post production journey ahead of us, from puppets to animations to original music, and none of those things come cheap!
Festival Fees!
We're confident in our short's ability to get into festivals, but those fees start to add up. Help us cover our festival costs and expand our audience!
Personal Statement
Our creative team has been making projects since middle school, and are determined to make fun, exciting, powerful work. Our sets lead with kindness and are powered by people of various different backgrounds, each of whom bring their own unique perspective to the work. This short in particular hits home for us because it highlights the absurdity of being a 20-something in this bizarre modern world. Nowadays, sometimes getting a free couch can really feel like life or death, and signing a contract with late fees does feel like striking a deal with an extraplanar entity.
