VAM Studios is going to the Fringe!
VAM Studios School of Dance is a family-owned, multi-disciplinary dance studio for all ages and levels located in Fremont, Seattle. We are excited to announce that VAM's professional dance company, Suitcase Dance Theatre, will be performing a new show, pAges, at the world’s largest performing arts festival, the prestigious Edinburgh Festival Fringe, this coming August! This exciting endeavor allows us to further the mission of VAM Studios’ Global Dance Initiative, through which we seek to develop partnerships that create a bridge for future international dance and performance opportunities for VAM Studios’ dancers.
We've been working hard to create our new show, pAges
Suitcase Dance Theatre is a multi-generational company currently comprised of 10 dancers from VAM Studios, who have been working hard this year to put together a new and exciting show. In pAges, journal entries come to life through our signature, dynamic fusion of ballet, tap, hip-hop and contemporary choreography, enhanced by spoken-word, props, and puppetry. We take our audience through a personal story about daring to pursue your dreams in a world that often demands conformity, weaving through the highs and lows of the human experience from childhood wonder to heartache, resilience, and the search for identity and self-discovery. We are excited to return to the Fringe for the second year in a row after a very successful debut performance in 2024 that received critical acclaim, including the “Pick of the Fringe” designation by Mervyn Stutter.
Please help support our journey!
Please join us in supporting VAM’s journey to the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where our dancers will act as ambassadors, representing the creative spirit of our VAM community on the international stage. Your contribution will help cover the costs of producing pAges, including costumes, props, travel, lighting design, marketing, and accommodations.
Our dancers are ready to embark on this exhilarating journey through which they will be immersed in a tapestry of cultural exchange and artistic exploration, and obtain invaluable insights into different creative processes and cultural perspectives. We are excited for our dancers to return home forever transformed by the magic of their time abroad, ready to share their energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge from their experience. Each contribution, big or small, will make a difference in our ability to bring this incredible performance to the Fringe, and create life-changing opportunities for our VAM community.
Campaign Goals:
1. Fundraise $35,000 to cover aspects of taking this production to the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, including costumes, props, lighting design, marketing, travel, accommodations and more!
2. Support the launch of VAM Studios' Global Dance Initiative, which will foster international connections and provide current and future life-changing experiences for dancers in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.
3. Bring social benefit to our communities on both local and global levels while strengthening artistic connections, cultural exchange, and artistic growth.
