Thirty years ago, artist and professor Willie Baronet turned a chance encounter on a Dallas street corner into a life-changing mission. What began as an impulse to buy a single homeless sign has grown into WE ARE ALL HOMELESS—a project that transforms these signs into powerful art installations designed to challenge perceptions of homelessness and foster empathy. Willie’s journey was captured in the 2014 documentary Signs of Humanity, which followed him across the U.S. as he purchased signs, listened to stories, and explored the meaning of home.
Now, the Signs of Humanity series picks up where the documentary left off—continuing the journey and expanding its reach. This time, Willie is joined by Eddie Dunn, a man whose sign he purchased during the original trip. Since then, Eddie has found recovery and rebuilt his life, becoming an advocate for change. Together, they bring a unique perspective to the series: Willie as an artist and collector, and Eddie as someone who has lived the experience of homelessness and is now helping others. Each episode will take viewers to a new city, connecting with individuals experiencing homelessness, purchasing their signs, and exploring how communities across the country are addressing this crisis in innovative ways.
This winter, we begin pre-production by researching local causes, identifying community heroes, and connecting with potential ride-along candidates, while simultaneously raising the funds necessary to bring this project to life. Filming kicks off in February and March, as we visit six cities to capture the powerful stories behind the signs. Post-production will run alongside filming, with the series set for completion in April 2025. Each episode will spotlight deeply personal stories and shine a light on the individuals and organizations working tirelessly to address homelessness in their communities.
The series will premiere on YouTube, with behind-the-scenes updates and weekly social media content to engage viewers along the way. With your support, we can make this ambitious project a reality. Your tax-deductible donation will fund travel, equipment, crew, and post-production—helping us amplify these stories to spark understanding, compassion, and meaningful change. Beyond YouTube, we aim to partner with streaming platforms to reach an even wider audience.
Thank you for joining us on this journey to inspire empathy, foster connection, and reimagine what it means to call a place home.
