X-BLOX: REAL PLAY vs. TECH PLAY

Contrena Wilson is the Founder of the #ShineYourLight Movement with Idealist.org and a member of the Media & Marketing Staff with Restoring Our Youth Organization. She is also the creator of Who’s Taking The Trophy?…Music Battles, a community-driven digital platform dedicated to music discovery and artist development. 

As a disabled content creator, she solely operates this platform entirely through remote and virtual infrastructure. This setup is a necessary accessibility measure that allows me to maintain consistent operations despite physical limitations. The success she has earned from pushing past limitations drives her to inspire others to share their light for all the world to see.

X-Blox is an inclusive community initiative designed to restore the joy of real-world play while promoting a healthy balance with technology. Through music, movement, and mentorship, we create safe, engaging environments where youth and families of all abilities can connect.

Many children today are increasingly isolated due to excessive screen time. For youth with disabilities or sensory sensitivities, accessible recreational spaces are even more limited. X-Blox creates a judgment-free, inclusive environment where every child can participate, feel seen, and belong.

X-Blox will serve over 500 families, providing safe, inclusive recreation and promoting balanced technology use. This pilot will establish a long-term model for inclusive community programming.

Phase 1 Goal: $12,000 to support the launch of the first X-Blox community event.
