MISSION
In an effort to remedy this underrepresentation WCPNW is bringing women choreographers of the Pacific Northwest region to Portland, Oregon for a weekend-long showcase of the innovation and talent that women bring to the art form. Our hope is that by offering women choreographers a monetary stipend, a residency for rehearsal and development, quality photos and video footage of the performances for use in future promotion, and an audience for their work, as well as by increasing their access to networking opportunities and their overall visibility, we will help to move the needle toward equal opportunity for women choreographers. 

 

ABOUT THE EVENT
WCPNW’s Showcase will be held May 16-19, 2024 at New Expressive Works (810 SE Belmont St, Portland OR). The run will consist of 4 performances and will feature the new or re-staged works of 5-7 regional, woman choreographers. Additionally, through our partnership with Portland Dance Film Fest, and in an effort to maximize our impact and further our reach, our audiences will be treated to the work of women dance-filmmakers of the Pacific Northwest between live dance works. Artist talks will follow performances for the edification and enrichment of the community. 

UNMET EXPENSES
Join us in championing Women Choreographers of the Pacific Northwest — a project that aims to expand choreographic opportunity for women. We’re thrilled to share that our dedication to fostering diversity and empowering women in dance has been recognized through a generous grant from the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC).
