Yeda יֶדַע Theatre has been on an incredible journey this past year. Our production The Crone Chronicles: Reclaiming Baba Yaga dazzled audiences at PhysFestNYC in New York this past January. Utilizing expressive movement, clowning, and puppetry to breathe new life into this Slavic tale through a Jewish lens, we sparked a fresh appreciation for Baba Yaga's complexity.
Excited by this success, we're dreaming up our next chapter. Our name Yeda יֶדַע refers to "a deep and inner knowing" in Hebrew, speaking to how we use the body's full potential to bring meaning and emotion to Jewish stories on stage. With your support, we want to develop more innovative productions examining the global Jewish experience.
What's Next?
Across our upcoming works-in-progress, יֶדַע Theatre is diving into rich thematic territory surrounding the Jews of Sarajevo, Bosnia and the role they played in providing aid and shelter to those in need during the conflict from '92-'95. Our goal is to showcase an area of Jewish history that is not as well known among the general public. We want to highlight a story where our people recognized what was about to happen again to another group of people and took action.

We need your support to turn these dreams into fully-realized productions. Your tax-deductible donation will directly enable us to:
- Host devising workshops and work-in-progress showings to develop these new pieces
- Conduct historical research and consult experts to root the work in accuracy and authenticity
- Provide stipends to our ensemble of actors, musicians, designers, and guest artists
- Secure rehearsal space and materials to craft costumes, masks, and puppetry
- Cover critical administrative costs that keep our operations running smoothly
