Dear Supporters:
It's time to take our show on the road! Broadway Babies: New York City Experience is designed to provide an authentic learning opportunity for inner-city youth to be immersed in the sites and sounds of On and Off Broadway for 3 days and 2 nights. These young performers and writers will participate in an arts exchange program with other NY youth led by professional theatre artists.
Our goal is to expose these underserved Atlanta youth to the rich culture of what's known as the greatest city in the world. Your generous financial participation in this journey will allow the Broadway Babies youth to travel by air, see a Broadway show, and engage in enrichment workshops with a prominent theatre company and educational institutions. Your contributions will be used to provide partial and full need-based scholarships for roundtrip air fare, a 2-night hotel stay and Broadway show tickets, dance class fees, acting workshop fees.
One of my 11-year-old performers once shared that she had never sung in a choir or acted on a stage prior to becoming a member of the Broadway Babies. To witness the glean in her eyes as she takes every bow, see the results of her rehearsal preparation at home and the nods of approval from teachers and other stakeholders continue to inspire me. This same student's rousing performance of Alexander Hamilton in "MY SHOT" from the Tony Award-winning musical Hamilton prompted the Superintendent of Atlanta Public Schools to award the entire B.B. ensemble tickets to see the Hamilton touring company show at the fabulous FOX Theatre which 95% of them never even knew existed. Since the Hamilton experience all of the Broadway Babies have been captivated by the stories, songs, and dances of the American Musical genre.
As Founder and Producing Director of the Broadway Babies, we received seed money from the Rensselaerville Institute Sparkplug Grant to develop and nurture this program which began in October 2016. Since that time the Broadway Babies have been invited to perform at venues across Atlanta including City Hall, GA State University, Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Luncheon, Greenbriar Mall events, 20th Anniversary of the East Atlanta Kids Club, and the APS Back To School Bash at the GA World Congress Center. Broadway Babies provides exposure exposure exposure to level a playing field of possibilities. Professional theatre artists and educators, primarily dedicated volunteers, work tirelessly to develop the raw talents of our youth.
Your contributions to the Broadway Babies: The New York Experience will enable students to travel to the epicenter of arts and culture. Your value added will never depreciate. The children will be impacted artistically, socially, and emotionally for a life-time. Thank you for helping Young Voices With New Visions to nurture their gifts as the Broadway Babies youth continue to be an inspiration to their communities.
Artfully Yours,
