zFestival is a virtual summer festival dedicated to the creation and documentation of new pieces of music and art, entirely online. Throughout the month of July, small groups of artists from around the globe will be sorted into small ensembles tasked with creating new pieces as a team by the end of the month. To help these teams complete their pieces, we provide a slate of guest artists who will present on and lead discussions about contemporary themes in music and art making. Come the end of the month, all the new works and guest artist talks will be presented on our YouTube account for the general public to enjoy.
We need your help to make zFestival happen again this year! Any donations to this campaign will go directly to funding our operating costs, which include:
- Paying our guest artists for developing and delivering a unique session for our participants
- Purchasing recording equipment and network cables to ensure high quality recording and internet for our participants
- Covering software needed to run the festival (Zoom, GSuite, Fractured Atlas)
zFestival’s mission is focused on equipping 21st century artists with technical skills to expand their work to digital media. We try to empower our participants to embrace technical challenges and find intuitive and innovative solutions to issues that arise in a virtual format. Additionally, we believe in accessible art education, and strive to make our programs free of cost and open to the public. Last summer, we had over 90 participants, sorted into 32 ensembles, join us free of cost, and our curated YouTube page hosts over 90 videos of guest artist talks, coaching sessions and the new works created in our programs. All donations go directly to supporting this open-source model of arts education.
Donors are an integral part of the zFestival experience; one of our hopes is to facilitate a new generation of artist-patron relationships by connecting contributors directly with the artists whom they support. Any donor of $50 or more will have the option to connect with some of the artists involved in the project, from participants to guest artists to the executive team. Additionally, please be on the lookout for future donation opportunities, including commissioning new works, funding future concerts and chatting with our participants prior to our Final Gala performances.
Please be sure to follow us on Facebook (ZFestival) and Twitter (zsummerfestival), sign up for our mailing list and check out our website (zfestival.org) and Youtube page. We will be broadcasting live events throughout the month of July for the general public to tune in, so make sure you are connected to our network to receive updates.
Note: Any donations beyond our goal will be used to pay our executive team, both of whom have planned and will run the festival without assurance of compensation.
