The Negro Leagues were an early civil rights movement, yet many of the players who helped shape that history remain unknown, and countless others are buried without recognition of their contributions. 18th Ward preserves and shares overlooked Black histories through documentary film, archival preservation, podcasts, exhibitions, and educational programming. Beginning with the rediscovery of a rare Negro League baseball scrapbook, the project transforms historical archives into public experiences that educate, inspire, and ensure these stories remain accessible for future generations.
