About

23.5° Tilt Theater Company was co-founded in 2021 by Elizagrace Madrone and Kate Pressman. Over 2026-2027, Tilt is developing 2 new works: long way home (written & created by Elizagrace Madrone) is a live solo show with an old TV monitor and a slow experiment in exploring pending grief. A single performer is isolated in the center of their own glitching memories as maps, mythos, radio adverts, & dashcam footage drag them on a surreal road trip through the American West. Where are your feet when the map breaks? Why is time so slimy when you’re grieving? Is it the tomatoes? How many tomatoes can you can while you’re trying not to think about it? Written & filmed by Elizagrace Madrone; directed by Ilana Khanin; video, sound, & projection design by Skye Mahaffie; props & production design by Kate Pressman. untitled kaiju project (written & created by Kate Pressman) combines 3D & 2D pen & ink paper puppetry, human actors, & live cinema - we’re making a monster movie live on stage, and the audience can watch the drama on the screen and the struggles of the puppeteers all at once. On screen, idealistic scientists in a time of war go too far & accidentally create a nuclear monster who rises up and menaces New York City. On stage, the overworked puppeteers keep the movie going even as one gets injured - & begins to bleed, threatening the white paper of the sets. Nobody wants to be the one who calls hold. We’ve played god, we’ve gone too far, & the play must go on. Story & puppets designed by Kate Pressman; directed by Velani Dibba; dramaturgy & creative producing by Elizagrace Madrone.
