A hybrid theater piece built around a new song cycle by Nina Nastasia, A Chapter in the Life of Viola Hammer tells, for the first time, through Nina's alter ego Viola Hammer, the story of a 27-year relationship marked by coercive control, the decision to leave, and the aftermath of her husband's suicide the following day. Performed live with a full band and orchestral elements, and staged through movement, puppetry, and visual spectacle, it's an unflinching reckoning with guilt, love, and survival; one that ends, deliberately, in euphoria.
