Our use of art-based intervention integrates multiple movement-based techniques with mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to lessen symptoms of depression, anxiety, fear, and anger. We aim to reduce the autonomic, visceral responses to trauma that lead to disruptive classroom behaviors and disorganized social relationships. Through our modality, students will regain a sense of agency, expand their emotional vocabulary, and experience catharsis through self-expression.
