HOW ALFO LEARNED TO LOVE WOMEN
by Vincent Amelio A romantic comedy from the NYC Fringe Festival
Alfo Idello has an addiction to women. At age 34, Alfo works with a stunning - and single - female psychiatrist to understand why he can't commit. He re-lives his teenage years growing up with his six sisters in the family's estrogen-fueled Italian bakery in Brooklyn. But what happens when Alfo's grandfather, the bakery's founder, returns from the dead to steal wedding cakes to bribe the admission committee at the gates of heaven? You see, in the after-life, Grandpa is stuck in traffic on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. To get out of traffic and into heaven, Grandpa needs to help Alfo take over the family bakery and make it a success again by baking bread by hand. But Alfo’s father will only allow Alfo to inherit the bakery if he is married. Alfo's father also prefers Alfos' sister's methods of factory baking. Can Grandpa's advice about romance help Alfo find his soul mate, get married, and revitalize the bakery? What will it take to make Alfo give up the sugar?
