"Into the Light" is a musical album and multi-media initiative exploring the dynamics of intergenerational trauma and the moral imperative of breaking the cycles of abuse often passed down from generation to generation.
The initiative includes the full-scale production of ten songs exploring themes of overcoming abuse, personal empowerment, spiritual awakening, and ancestral healing. The album will be the foundation of a theatrical performance being developed for the stage and screen. The multi-media campaign will include a podcast series exploring the stories behind the songs, and will include interviews with experts and healers providing insight into the various stages and processes of healing and recovery.
Aliza Hava is an award-winning singer/songwriter whose music has been included on soundtracks and compilations alongside artists such as Ani DiFranco, Annie Lennox, Jackson Browne, and Amanda Palmer. "Into the Light" is based on her personal experiences growing up in a severely abusive environment and how she found healing through her work as an artist/activist and spiritual seeker.
Through music and storytelling, she shares the wisdom and insight she has gained in order to raise awareness about the ongoing dangers and impact of child abuse and domestic violence, and to help alleviate the suffering of those who have undergone similar circumstances.
The album is being produced by multi-platinum, Grammy winning producer Mikal Blue, who is best known for his work with Colbie Caillat, Jason Mraz, and Onerepublic. The album features musical arrangements by bassist Dean Dinning of Toad the Wet Sprocket, Dalton Cyr on guitar, and Gregg Bisonnette of Ringo Starr's All Star Band on the drums.
