Allan Pray is a composer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Cincinnati, OH. He writes primarily for acoustic instruments including cello, violin, voice, piano and guitar and he plays these instruments himself as he records the music in his home studio. The music is subsequently arranged for and performed live by various 7-10 piece classical ensembles.
His first album "Tam O'Shanter Remembers The Day" (2009) lavishly and colorfully recounts his sister's wedding day. His second project "Horseshoe Trail" (2010) is a single 3 movement piece which musically describes an adventure taken by himself and his siblings on a nature trail built by his father. Allan's most recently completed album "Race: The Portrait Of A Town" is an extensive and intimate portrayal of an elaborate miniature town he discovered his mother had built in her attic.
Since the completion of his latest album, Allan has been writing and recording material for several music projects including an album of children's songs, a collection of self portraits, a musical dissertation/data study on the wildlife of the Arctic Tundra and another on modern Hopi and Aztec religion, and a series of musical sound sculptures.
After spending the past year performing with the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) Allan has moved to New York City and begun performing his music with a new 10 piece professional ensemble.
