Founded by pianist Chelsea Randall, the American Mavericks project celebrates seldom-heard, newly discovered and contemporary solo piano music by Black American composers 1900-present through commissions, performances, educational initiatives and research.

Leslie Adams, Regina Harris Baiocchi, Adolphus Hailstork, Talib Rasul Hakim, Jonathan Bailey Holland, Julius Eastman, Dorothy Rudd Moore, Undine Smith Moore, Joyce Solomon Moorman, Jeffrey Mumford, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, Julia Perry, Daniel Bernard Roumain, Hale Smith, Mary D. Watkins, George Walker, Carolyn Yarnell and young, emerging composers.
