I am a vocalist, teaching artist, champion of contemporary composition, and ardent fan of music of all eras and genres. My artistic mission is to lift up new and contemporary vocal literature to serve as narrative for the hard to speak about issues of our times. I perform and collaborate with a dynamic array of musicians, chamber ensembles and orchestras. While I am fortunate to work closely with world-famous composers like Jake Heggie, Kaija Saariaho, John Harbison and Aaron Jay Kernis, I eagerly seek out and perform music by emerging and under-represented voices.
RECORDING ARTIST
Over the last decade I have acquired a deep love for the art and craft of recording. I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with remarkable music creators such as Leslie Ann Jones, Andreas Meyer, Michael Romanowski, Lolly Lewis, Dann Thompson, Piper Payne, Jeff Kolhede, Alberto Hernandez and Andy Happel. As an elected Governor of the SF Chapter of the Recording Academy, I share that organization’s commitment to promoting diversity & inclusion, advocating for creators rights, protecting musicians in need, and saving music in our schools. I have released two portrait albums, bothproduced by multi-GRAMMY® award winner Leslie Ann Jones, and can also be heard on releases from Angels Share Records, Albany Records, ARSIS Audio, Navona Records, Naxos Records, Ravello Records and Jaded Ibis Productions.
I am honored to collaborate with composers, pianists, chamber ensembles, librettists and other artists towards the creation of new works, recordings, and innovative concert programs. I'm currently working with British composer David Howell and violist Justin Ouellet to create a duet for soprano and viola; with Sacramento-based pianist Jennifer Reason to record contemporary American Art Songs; with composer/M.C. Kev Choice to produce a song commemorating the anniversary of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, and other projects described on my website.
