With our presentation of "Heathers," we will provide an additional theatrical opportunity for members of the Northwest Arkansas community. There are two theater companies that operate in this area during the summer, but even with both of these theaters producing shows, there are still so many local actors that are hungry for theatrical experiences. "Heathers" is also vastly different from the shows that are happening in the area, and will attract a more diverse and younger crowd of actors and audience members. We will also raise money and awareness surrounding gun violence. There are several violent scenes in "Heathers" resulting in several deaths of students. I want to highlight these victims of violence as well as the recent victims of gun violence in our country. I have been in contact with local non-profits, like Moms Demand Action, about working together on this project, and I am hopeful that we will be able to partner with them.
