The MAY DAY/Mayday Event was a Tremendous Success!

Dear Friends of Articulate,

Truth be told - I'm amazed.  Those of you who came out to our MAY DAY/Mayday event last night were so open, so giving, so much FUN! We raised a very significant amount of money, which is going to make the difference between whether we can produce our next Articulating the Arts event. We haven't quite made our goal, but we do still have FOUR days left! Since you've already donated to Articulate, I won't ask you to do so again, but could I appeal to you to share our need with your friends, family, neighbors, dentists, accountants...? Maybe they'd like to come see our next show with you, and will help us make that happen!

Tell them to check us out at this link:  https://fundraising.fracturedatlas.org/articulate-theatre-company/campaigns/1922

Meanwhile, you can check out our webpage about last night's event, and see some pictures from the evening!

Oh, and let me remind you of the "secret" we shared last night: On June 15th, Keir Dullea (2001: A Space Odyssey) and Mia Dillon (TONY nominee for Crimes of the Heart) will give a performance of AR Gurney's "Love Letters" to benefit Articulate Theatre. We'll make the official announcement next week, but you get to know in advance! To know when tickets will go on sell, and hear more details of the night, please make sure you've signed up for our mailing list.

Once again, let me offer my thanks to you for supporting Articulate Theatre Company. We will put your donation to great use, and invite you to come see how we do it!

Peace
Cat Parker

It's MAY-DAY, Let's Celebrate!

It's MAYDAY, Let's Protest!

 Wait, what??

The first of May represents both the celebration of Spring and the honoring of activists who have changed our world. We here at Articulate Theatre Company think it's the perfect time to come together to do both. Our May Day/Mayday event will be a chance to eat, drink, sing, gab, and pass the hat to celebrate Spring and help Articulate raise funds for our next production, inspired by Protest Art!

Articulating the Arts is a series that creates new theatrical works of art inspired by art from other disciplines. Our next installment finds our ensemble members and guest artists responding to some of the most inspirational and bold works of "protest art." From Picasso's "Guernica," to Banksy's street art, to the defiant "Fearless Girl" facing off with the bull of Wall Street, the artwork created by activist artists galvanizes, incites and sticks in our souls. In this time of division, collaboration between art and artists will result in new plays that will do the same. And you can help make it happen!

On May 1st, we're having a fundraiser to raise part of the money needed to put on the AtA. It's a "May Day/Mayday" party, because the first of May represents both the celebration of Spring and the honoring of activists who have changed our world. Articulate will celebrate Spring on May 1st in order to raise funds for it’s honoring of the activists who have created some of the most iconic protest art of all time in our upcoming Articulating the Arts events.

*** Articulating the Arts May Never Get Off the Ground Without Your HELP ***
Without your help, our next show may never happen. The budget needed for even a "frugal" show keeps getting bigger and bigger, as we face rising rehearsal and venue prices. Artists live on hopes and dreams, but landlords prefer dollars! Please help us raise the funds by attending our May Day/Mayday event, or donating directly - or BOTH!

Please join us at The Crooked Knife on 14th St, 6:30pm to 10pm, on Tuesday, May 1st. Tickets are $20 at the door, or you can pre-pay online by looking at the list on the right, and picking the reward called "Flora, Goddess of May Flowers." Your donation entitles you to Happy Hour prices all night long, hors d'oeuvres, songs and maybe a bit of fun stuff! If you can't attend, please consider picking one of the other reward levels and make this event a reality!

Who is Articulate Theatre?
Articulate is an ensemble based theatre company created in January of 2013. Our members are actors, playwrights, designers, producers, directors, stage managers, singers, dancers, and more.

What kind of theatre does Articulate do?

Myth, Magic, and the Mundane

Story-telling is the heart of theatre. And the stories we like to tell involve myth, magic and the mundane: Mythical creatures bringing new perspective to our mundane lives, or typical people doing epic things. Gods, faeries, artists, plumbers, teachers, heroes, villains, accountants, florists - when these elements combine, we see our reality in a new way. To learn more about what this means, check out this page.
