The goal of Astoria New Play Festival is providing development and production opportunities for theatre artists in the Astoria area, primarily through staged readings by local playwrights.
There are two major facets of this in 2026: two days of readings of previously unproduced full-length plays (followed by audience talkbacks), and two days of readings of short plays, all by Astoria-based playwrights.
We intend to grow the festival over time and constantly keep the creation of new work by Astoria artists at the center.
