About

Attune is an interdisciplinary research and creative workshop whose purpose is to explore the critical relationship of self-care with the importance of care of our planet, deepening the relationship between creative practice and ecological stewardship. Addressing the delicate interaction between space and human connections, Attune will bring together visual artists, dancers, musicians, coaches, and researchers creating an intersection of sound, movement, and art-making. Attune’s first workshop will be held within the Bellamont Wildlife Conservancy, Ireland, which places artists in sustained dialogue with a landscape shaped by centuries of natural and cultural history. At the intersection of sound, movement, and art-making, Attune is an interdisciplinary research and creative workshop which bring together visual artists, dancers, musicians, coaches, and researchers to contemplate and experience self-care and care, as it unfolds through attention, reciprocity, improvisation, and the delicate interaction between space and human connections. Care becomes something that is composed, performed, witnessed, and received. It takes form in a hand extended, a shared silence, a movement mirrored, a sound held, or a traced gesture. Each artistic manifestation becomes a step in a larger, fluid score that acknowledges vulnerability, difference, and interdependence. Why is this project needed? Rooted in contemporary ecological and care-centered literature, our project challenges the extractive tendencies of the cultural economy by emphasizing: Prioritizing process over outcome Creating inclusive, restorative environments (e.g., care-driven residencies) Fostering affective, social, and community-based creativity Aligned with post-growth cultural perspectives, the workshop advocates for sustainability, well-being, and relational richness. Through collaborative inquiry, participants will explore the intersections of art, somatic awareness, and environment, cultivating shared learning, collective authorship, and innovative methodologies rooted in attentiveness to the body, community, and nature. On a broader level, our research delves into the deep interconnectedness of artists, people, systems, and the planet. We explore these complex relationships—where do these connections between people and the planet lead us? On conceptual, social, and personal levels. How will your gift count?
