Thank you so much for making our readings at NYMF possible. We are in the thick of rehearsals right now and are learning so so much about the piece. The opportunity to work with an incredible ensemble of actors and musicians to bring to life what Marialena and Susannah have been working to write for two years is truly incredible. There has been so much interest in the the readings, that at this time we are thrilled to report they are sold out!! (Though you can still get on the waitlist.) We truly want to make sure as many people can see this BISLAND & BLY staged reading as possible - which is why we are working to add a bonus staged reading performance at The Times Center on July 31st at 7:30 PM. We have miraculously been able to secure donated space, but need to be able to pay our artists for their additional time, so we are stretching our goal to $5000. This extra funding will allow an additional 99 people to see BISLAND & BLY in the beautiful Times Center space. Please help us reach this stretch goal! UPDATE: We are thrilled to announce that our advanced seating for BISLAND & BLY's NYMF staged readings is sold out! You can still put your name on the waitlist at the door, but -- with your help -- we are hoping to add an additional performance and allow 99 more people to see this story, live! We are so grateful that we have already reached and surpassed our $4000 fundraising goal and with just a few more 30th birthday presents to Marialena, we can reach our stretch goal of $5000 and add the performance. In November 1889, Nellie Bly and Elizabeth Bisland set off in opposite directions on a history-making race around the globe to beat Phileas Fogg’s fictional record from Around The World In Eighty Days. Though a world apart, Nellie and Elizabeth found themselves on a journey that would change and connect their lives forever. Written by Marialena DiFabbio and Susannah Jones, Bisland & Bly is the story of two remarkable and remarkably different women who dared to persist in the pursuit of their dreams.

After a reading of the first act at The Springworks Festival in Stratford, Ontario, a reading of our first full draft for peers and advisors last summer at The Artist’s Co-Op in New York City and a year of applying for grants, reading opportunities and fellowships, we are thrilled to announce that Bisland & Bly will be having a developmental reading directed by Avital Shira and featuring Susannah Jones as Elizabeth Bisland and Danielle Frimer as Nellie Bly in the nationally acclaimed New York Musical Festival this July. None of this would have been possible without the extremely generous support of our amazing donors.
In fact, previous contributions to the Sycamore Theatre Company have already allowed us to pay the substantial NYMF festival fee! Now, we are asking for your continued support to make our next staged reading possible. The New York Musical Festival, with its strong subscriber base and contacts to industry professionals who attend Festival events, provides Bisland & Bly with the opportunity to get this material in front of producers and agents who could make further development and the opportunity to reach a broader audience possible.
Our goal is to raise $4000 in order to pay our actors, musicians, and creative team and to cover the rest of the production costs (including printing, concessions, insurance, etc.)
We are so grateful to all of the supporters who have joined us on this two-and-a-half year journey! Now, we are thrilled to bring it to life with a remarkable team of artists and share it with our friends and the public at a world-renowned festival. Your support is crucial to bringing Bisland & Bly to life!
