In a world full of children who look like adults pointing fingers at each other, this movie is about the freeing and unsatisfying choice to radically forgive.
The Story:
Our story follows Zack and Izzy, a newly-wed couple with endless possibilities ahead of them… until Izzy misses her period. Suddenly the couple is swept up in a comedy of errors – filming ‘How To’ videos for their "baby” in a frantic attempt to prove their readiness to be parents. To prove that they want to be parents. But, before they can imagine the kind of parents they will be, they must reckon with the parents that they had.
Why this story?
There is a fallacy, that we leave our childhoods behind once we're adults. They say filmmakers are doomed to make the same film over and over again. And in the same vein, people are doomed to play out the scenes we saw as children over and over again. We may hold onto the hope that our parents will finally give us what we need or the fear that we won't live up to this aggrandized version of them we have in our heads. This late-in-life coming of age story is unique in its exploration of how both supportive and neglectful parents shape and stunt us. When the world is full of children who look like adults pointing fingers at each other, this movie is about the freeing and unsatisfying choice to radically forgive.
