I want to let you know why I am making this film and what I believe in. Thematically Bad Head is my response to the last decade, to the notion of a post-truth age, the dystopian nature of stripmalls and the zeitgeist of 21st century America. The performance art nature of the film comes directly from the 20 years of doing my own work directly into the camera, often structured around monologues. Characters inspired by the wild, beautiful, contradictory and confusing outsiders that I have met along the way. Stylistically the film comes from my love of cult film and my research into representations of Dreams, Psychosis and Altered States in cinema.
There is something else, more important than all of this. It’s my love of Baltimore and the artists community, of wanting to see ambitious and risk taking film work thrive on a local level. At my core I believe in the DIY ethos. I want to help build the scaffolding for large scale ambitious films to grow-up from the grassroots away from traditional gatekeepers.
What am I offering you? Hopefully to support art you love, and do it with like minded people. I can promise you to be respectful, to listen and to admit my mistakes when I make them. I promise you honesty. Finally, I promise to do everything I can to make an awesome movie we can all be proud of.”
