Founded in 2013, Basic Engineering Collective (BEC) is a group of multidisciplinary artists exploring the constituent elements of a performance piece. Through the process of construction and reconstruction, BEC hopes to find new methods of performance presentation. BEC has a strong bent towards experimental and devised work, embracing a variety of tools to morph performance art; including visual media, found text, and movement. The group is of the philosophy that significant events, inventions and discoveries don't simply offer dramatic themes on which to build a piece: They also present opportunities for further research and new interpretations.
