BattleWire Youth is a Los Angeles arts program teaching kids and teens the culture and craft of hip-hop — breaking (breakdance), DJing, mural and visual art, and filmmaking. We keep tuition affordable and offer scholarships, so the kids who need it most can take part.
Founded and led by artist and festival-winning filmmaker Luis Dalmasy (Mach3), BattleWire gives young people more than a class — it gives them a positive place to build real skills, discipline, and confidence through the arts. Our breakers have competed at a high level, medaling at the AAU Breaking Junior Olympics. In our media program, students are writing, shooting, and starring in their own short film — learning camera, directing, and editing by making real work. Others paint community murals and learn DJing and music from the ground up.
Our mission is simple: make high-quality arts education accessible to LA youth, especially those who'd never otherwise get the chance. Every young person who joins gets mentorship, hands-on training, and a way to show their work through murals, performances, screenings, and competitions.
Tuition helps cover our costs, but it doesn't cover everything — and some families can't afford it at all. Donations and grants let us offer scholarships, keep tuition low, and reach more kids. As a fiscally sponsored project of Fractured Atlas (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit), every gift is tax-deductible.
Your support goes straight to the kids:
• $25 — art and mural supplies for a young artist
• $50 — a week of classes for a student on scholarship
• $100 — a month of training for a kid who can't afford tuition
• $250 — paint for a youth-painted community mural
• $500 — gear for the film crew, or a breaker's competition travel
Help us reach the kid who can't afford it — donate today.
