About

BEAUTIFUL WOMEN DANCING is a short film about Clara, a 19 year old queer woman who wants to come out to her father, William—but his memory is slowly fading due to his ongoing battle with Lewy Body Dementia. When Clara visits William’s nursing home, she spends the weekend with him reminiscing about his younger days, but she finds herself struggling to accept his present state and his seemingly shifting identity. No matter how young or old you are, losing a parent you are close to is like losing a part of yourself until you accept that they are still living within you, and that the love you have for them still exists. At its core, this film is about the loss and gain of identity. This is the story about a conversation I wish I had with my dad when I came out. There’s always so much left unsaid; Anyone who discovered their own identity after they lost a parent will find themselves in this film.
