Beyond the Classroom: Young Playwrights Workshop is a six-week arts education program where children ages 8-10 write original plays that are performed by professional adult actors in a public showcase. Developed by an award-winning film and theater producer and a triple board-certified child psychiatrist specializing in play therapy, the program builds creative confidence, literacy, and emotional intelligence through the transformative experience of seeing one's own story brought to life on stage. With a successful pilot completed in the Bronx and institutional roots at NYU School of Medicine and Lincoln Center, the program now seeks funding to expand access to underserved school communities across the New York metropolitan area.
