When you are reminded by the instruments is a collection of my music spanning the years from 1989 to 2015, the first ever recording consisting entirely of my works, from the early Fanfare for Brass and Percussion to solo works for piano (E. M. am Flügel) and tenor saxophone (The Trill Is Gone), to chamber music (When you are reminded by the instruments and Inquieto) to choral works (Ochila laEil, Wedding Motet), to the motley ensemble (a sort of jazz band on steroids, featuring a solo steel pan) of the rollicking Pan-fare. Much emotional and expressive territory is covered in the works that will comprise this disc, from lyricism, both serene and passionate, to jazzy, rock-tinged and funk-inspired to the whimsical and wacky, and I couldn’t be prouder that PARMA approached me nor more pleased and eager to share this music with the world.
